Kasper Schmeichel (born 5 November 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Scottish club Celtic FC and the Denmark national team.
Who is Kasper Schmeichel ?
Growing up, Kasper spent his early childhood both in Denmark and England (where his father, the famed goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, played). He speaks both Danish and English fluently—his English with a noticeable Manchester accent.
His youth football career included a spell in Portugal at Estoril before moving to Manchester City’s youth system. His senior career began with Manchester City, but he went out on several loans (to clubs like Darlington, Bury, Falkirk, Cardiff City and Coventry City) before moving on to find regular first-team football.

In 2011 he joined Leicester City, which proved to be a transformative move. At Leicester he became a fixture in goal for over a decade, making more than 400 appearances and contributing significantly to the club’s most successful era: rising from the Championship back to the Premier League and then winning the Premier League title in the 2015–16 season.
Internationally, Kasper made his first senior appearance for Denmark in 2013, and since then has earned over 100 caps. He has represented Denmark in major tournaments including the 2018 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2020.
Facts about Kasper Schmeichel :

- While at Leicester, he and his father became the only father-and-son pair to have each won the Premier League, and each as a goalkeeper.
- Early in his career at Notts County, he almost scored a goal: in a match he came up for a corner and attempted an overhead kick!
- He speaks with a Manchester accent, despite being born in Copenhagen — because he spent much of his upbringing in England.
- In the 2018 World Cup for Denmark, he set a new record for minutes without conceding for his country, surpassing his father’s record.

- As a child, he admitted that football wasn’t always his main focus — it was only around age 12–13 when his goalkeeping began to become serious for him.
